![]() ![]() Since this new model has been introduced, the offers seem real fishy and so do the tips. For all we know customers who tip 15$, dd is saying it's a 5.00 base pay with a 10$ tip as well. It seems these 9 mile orders i take are always low base pays when the customer tips so basically they're taking our tip to cover the base pay. Because I've gotten 9$ base pay to go 9 miles with 0$ tip several of times and then the base pay is like 2.50-5.00 depending on how much thr customer tips. It seems the base offer as soon as the order is placed, depends if the customer tips or not. So on a $2.30 order for a two mile (one way) delivery, the driver has $11.25 in expenses, but earns only $2.30, so they’re actually paying DD $8.95 to deliver this order, bring DD’s total earnings to $70.95. That’s $62, and the driver is making $2.30, out of which comes $1.00 for self employment taxes, $2.25 in mileage expense (gas, payment, depreciation, insurance, maintenance, tires, brakes, gas, registration, etc.), cell phone expense of $0.50, plus 30 minutes of wait, drive, delivery and return trip of $7.50. So overall, they’re taking $12 on the food order from the restaurant, $4 on the up-charge, another $8 of the tip meant for the restaurant, plus $38 of the delivery fee charged to the customer. So they’re not only pocketing about $38 on the delivery fee, but their system takes a 30% cut off the top of the restaurant’s prices, and up-charges the customer another 10%, plus DD skims 100% of the tips the customer left for the restaurant. But they pay just $2, regardless of the tip. In my area they charge $40 to the customer for some restaurants, for a 2 mile delivery. My longest delivery was 4.3 miles (one way) at $17.00. My shortest delivery (in terms of mileage) was 700 yards (one way) at $8.00. ![]() Last night, I earned $110 and drove a total of 39.0 miles ($2.82 per driven mile) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM ($36 per hour). Yes, I do average from $1.50 to $ 4.00 per driven mile with $ 2.00 to $3.00 being the most common earning per mile. I don’t know where you came up with a minimum payout of $8 to $12. I do look at the restaurant (fast food or sit down) the type of residence (I try to avoid apartments given the illogical numbering schema) the location of the customer etc. My acceptance requirements are: 1) $1 per round trip mile (the restaurants are clustered in my market which means that I need to drive back to pick up a new delivery) 2) a $6.50 minimum payout (I would decline an order with a payout of $5 with 4 round trip miles) 3) the one way distance is less than 5 miles (I have taken orders more than 5 miles but the payout was substantial to merit the acceptance). I quit at 8PM because the dinner rush is over and it will be $6 to $7 orders from Taco Bell and McDonalds for the rest of the night. Last Friday, I made $40 from 5 to 6 $30 from 6 to 7 and $20 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. They can’t believe that I am making $2 to $4 per driven mile (from my driveway back to my driveway) and $ 20 to $ 35+ per hour.Īre they bad nights…absolutely!!! That is part of running a business. I have spoken with other dashers while waiting. There are dashers who don’t work food delivery correctly. It doesn’t pay to do breakfast so I do IC in the morning. I can probably get 4 orders between DD and UE…mostly McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts orders. There are dashers that don’t look at the numbers. Can you start a business in every market? No…you can’t. There are too many financial ignorant and/or illiterate individuals in this country when it comes to business. ĭoor dash literally has no set base pay for orders and are making sure we only make so much money per order. ![]() Out of those 7 orders I tracked, only 1 had a base pay higher than the others but was also 45 minutes behind which led me to believe it got passed around so the base pay got risen after so many declines ( which we know this already ). In this next list, I'm going to describe the payouts after each order.ĭo you see the pattern in those orders? So it seems door dash is only raising base pay on orders that are hardly being tipped or none at all. Majority of these orders are paying 9$ on average to drive 40 minutes round trip. So recently I have been taking a lot of orders that go to Kent Ohio, this is usually 9-12 miles from my zone. ![]()
